In a memory palace, a mnemonic device, the rememberer travels through the mind’s spatial reconstruction, retrieving bits of information stored along a familiar, vivid site. Memory Palace is an exhibition that explores drawing materiality, its capacity to hold or unlock memory, or reconstruct the past. Paper, like skin, remembers what was done to it: being folded, rolled, and it can scar. Paper is a vulnerable site, and with the humblest of materials, extends the inner world to the physical.

In this group exhibition, these artists explore drawing materials, techniques and processes, to give physical form to the act of remembering.

Chez STADM is the ever-evolving gallery/studio space located in a historic UWS townhouse. It is home to the creative minds of STADM living both as our in-house full service production studio, the event space for exclusive parties and activations, and of course for bringing artists into the limelight.
